Ryan Gosling Wins First Golden Globe, But His Heartfelt Speech Is All About His Girlfriend
Ryan Gosling just got a little more swoon-worthy, if that is even possible.
The world has been in love with this leading man for over a decade now, but after winning his first Golden Globe, Ryan just became the most romantic man alive.
He was up against great competition, and this was his fifth time being nominated, so surely he must have been thrilled to win for La La Land.
Despite his excitement and humor (he made jokes about being confused for Ryan Reynolds), he quickly got into the meat of his acceptance speech.
While he gave much credit to his La La Land co-star and friend, Emma Stone, as well as the film’s director, Damien Chazelle, his speech truly was about his partner, Eva Mendes.
Ryan and Eva have been a couple since 2011, but for years they have always been tight-lipped about their relationship. They still are very private, even after having two daughters together, Amada and Esmerelda.
Ryan dedicated the award to Eva, who was busy as the mother of his children while struggling with personal family issues during the time he worked on La La Land.
In his speech, he said, “While I was singing and dancing and playing piano, and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer.”
Many people dedicate their awards to their loved ones, but this speech made absolutely everyone just melt into a puddle.
He didn’t need to spend 10 minutes talking about Eva, nor did he need to go into great detail about what she did. His simple, sweet speech spoke volumes about their love, and it was absolutely beautiful to witness.
